Filed under : 2009 Reports Fishing Reports Print This Post Rapidly cooling air temperatures and cold water created quite a challenge today but I managed 5 nice smallmouth bass and one suprise catch . The suprise catch was a 13 inch brook trout that must have made its way into the Juniata from a feeder stream . It wacked a suspending jerkbait . Well , enough of the trout . Lets talk smallmouth bass Times Fished 11:30 a.m . 2:30 . p.m Weather Conditions Air temperatures cooled from 50 to 46 in about 2 hours overcast with periods of steady rain later in the trip Water Conditions Water level was rising but still within the banks slightly murkey , visibilite about 3 feet Water temperature was 42 degrees to 44 degrees Baits Used Suspending Jerkbait , Huskey Jerk size 8 Crankbait , 4-6 feet diver wide wobble Yum Dinger 4 inch Fish Caught Landed 5 smallmouth bass in 3.5 hours of fishing . Most of the catches occured around 2 p.m . The three biggest fish were 18, 17.5, and 16 inches . The other two fish were around 13
Here are 10 crappie and bluegill's that I caught March 25 2009 in just 2 hours. We actually caught 20 fish to include two bass, but returned the smaller fish for next year.I used a purple Kelly's REVEILLE JR . Filed under : Latest News Print This Post Some time ago I wrote about filming a smallmouth fishing show with the Centre Sportsmen outdoor show . Well , The show we taped is going to air this Sunday at 11:00 a.m . Here is a listing of stations channels around Pennsylvania that carry the show : http : centresportsman.com schedule.html As I mentioned in my previous post , we had a great time filming the show and caught a good number of smallmouth bass along the way . Scott Laukhoff is an excellent host and an avid fisherman . The action starts out a little slow but once we figuered out the pattern it was consistant action with a few nice smallmouth thrown in here and there . We filmed the show durning the fall in October . Filed under : 2009 Reports Fishing Reports Print This Post Well , my first official trip of the season for smallies and I was SKUNKED” I have to say that I fish about 3-5 days per week from about March through December so I’ll have plenty of opportunities to redeem my performance . Last year , amazingly , I was only skunked once and it came on a snowy day . I believe it was the 20th of .
