: 19 November 2012 Now and Then You Get Surprised Erik Griswold one of our team members here at Copenhagenize , found some retro photos of Copenhagen . More specifically , Frederiksberg . Even more specifically , my front . door I promptly went out and took photos from the same angle . The couple of steps at the bottom right of the 1960s photo , below , are the main door to my building . Interesting to learn that back then I would have had the penthouse flat , because since then someone added some . floors What I find most interesting is the comparison of the two photos . While it is certainly true that road space and parking for cars were removed in Copenhagen to reestablish the bicycle infrastructure back in the early 1980s , it's plain to see that space on certain streets was reclaimed

: 17 November 2012 Pedicabs the Latest Victim of Copenhagen's Anti-Cycling Militia The latest target for Copenhagen City Hall's anti-cycling militia is the city's pedicabs . Instead of embracing a transport form that doesn't pollute but rather creates jobs and adds an extra feature to the tourism experience in Copenhagen , City Hall is just going to make some laws and regulate them . Restricting a historical and tradtional feature on the Copenhagen . cityscape As it is now , pedicabs can gather where the customers are and earn a living based on the market . At times , in the peak months , there are a few too many parked together in certain busy areas . I can't see that this is a problem . It creates life on the streets . It's not like they're blocking the entrance to a hospital or anything

: 08 November 2012 Outrageous Harbour Tunnel for Copenhagen The old-fashioned road interests are at it again and the Lord Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen , among others , are pandering to them . The insanity continues in The New . Copenhagen Now they want to build a tunnel for cars and trucks to connect the motorways that come from the north of Copenhagen and end in an area called Ryparken Hans Knuds Square to the motorway that connects the West of Zealand the island on which Copenhagen is located and the bridge to Sweden . This motorway also accesses the Copenhagen airport . What is interesting is the development that this will no longer be called the harbour tunnel but will instead be called the Eastern Bypass but that's just so that it can recieve funding from the national government .

We have , however , such a counterproductive urban model of society that we end up choosing the latter . Living in a parking lot . Sure , that's better than living in a sewer , but perhaps it's just a matter of time before we have merged our habitat into an integrated housing sewer and parking . facility The increasing number of parking lots and cars and , in the Danish perspective , even more frequent storms with wild amounts of precipitation like we've
