Bet you didn't think I'd be starting this thread, huh?
He'd had a great career, done a lot for American tennis and through his foundation, and was priceless in the interview room.
Will be a felt absence.

Sloane Stephens owns the distinguished honor of being the youngest player in the WTA’s top 50, but after today’s torturous three-set tussle with German qualifier Tatjana Malek, the young American must feel like she’s 19 going on 30. Stephens reached the third round for the fourth time in her last five majors with a 5-7, [...]
Just a day after her singles career was brought to a close with loss to Laura Robson in the second round of the US Open, Kim Clijsters is saying goodbye to doubles as well, falling in the first round of the US Open women's doubles. She played with Kirsten Flipkens, and Chuang Chia-jung and Zhang Shuai [...]
Not a bad day for Serbian tennis. Even though young Serbian prospect Bojana Jovanovski fell in two tiebreaks in a courageous fight against Dominika Cibulkova in the second round of the US Open, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic are progressing little by little. After beating Elina Svitolina 6-3 6-2 in the first round, the 12th-seeded Ivanovic [...]
Two lost tiebreaks in the US Open second round against Laura Robson, 7-6(4) 7-6(5), and we're, a bit surprisingly prematurely, saying goodbye to Kim Clijsters. If this was too fast a goodbye for you, let me tell you that Clijsters is out only from the singles competition. She's playing women's doubles with fellow Belgian Kirsten Flipkens, [...]
Even though she's recorded two convincing victories so far at the US Open – 6-0 6-1 against Alexandra Panova in the first round and today 6-2 6-2 against Kirsten Flipkens – the Grand Slam is not the only thing Victoria Azarenka has been up to. The Belarusian has a new off-court activity – she’s become [...]
Lately I've been thinking about how awkwardly silent Maria Sharapova has been about her marriage and I decided to give the topic attention in hope of getting some insider/wise reader input. It's been almost two years since Masha and Sasha Vujacic got engaged and the topic of the wedding seems to be a far away [...]
At the US Open, where she played the final in 2009 and semifinals in 2010 and 2011, Caroline Wozniacki quietly went out in the first round to 96th-ranked Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania 6-2 6-2. At the previous Grand Slam, Wimbledon 2012, Wozniacki also lost in the first round, which was her first first-round loss since [...]
Defending champion Samantha Stosur was close to joining Yaroslava Shvedova in achieving a golden set, but at 4-0 40-0 in the first set, the Australian double faulted and spoiled the opportunity. Still, nothing can diminish her perfect start of title defense, as the seventh seed needed just 51 minutes to beat Petra Martic 6-1 6-1 [...]
Petra Kvitova is the one taking Caroline Wozniacki's throne at the $637,000 New Haven Open at Yale. In the final against Maria Kirilenko (against whom Wozniacki retired in the previous round), after saving set points in both sets, Kvitova won the title that used to be Wozniacki's in the past four years. Six service breaks in [...]
When doctors assured her that her right knee injury wouldn't be aggravated by further play, Caroline Wozniacki decided to enter her semifinal against Maria Kirilenko and try to crawl to her fifth-straight New Haven title. However, the 20-0 winning streak was over after the first set, when the Dane, trailing 5-7, realized she had to [...]
Third seed and four-time defending champion Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the semifinals of the New Haven Open at Yale with a 6-2 6-1 victory over sixth seed Dominika Cibulkova, but the Dane's future at her perfect tournament could be affected by a sharp pain in her right knee that troubled her during the quarterfinal. However, [...]
