• Clear "May" Return

    Updated: 2009-09-30 11:09:21
Brad Stone of the New York Times reports that a Bay Area investor wants to bring the Clear registered traveler program back to those frequent travelers who want preferred status to get through the security lines faster. As a former Clear member I'm thrilled to hear the news. Now, making it a reality is another matter, but the Post Steve Brill era of Clear, and a different administration in Washington D.C. may actually give this revitalized startup another chance to make it.

  • Refurbished TechSoup Computers Recycled for Free

    Updated: 2009-09-29 22:41:04
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that in the U.S. in 2007, only 18% of electronic waste was collected for recycling and a full 82%, or 1.84 million tons, was disposed of, primarily in landfills. With these types of statistics, we feel an obligation to do our part to help curb e-waste while at the same time promoting the efficient use of technology to help social benefit organizations most effectively meet their missions. read more

  • More MiFi Action In Vodafone Family

    Updated: 2009-09-07 21:59:24
Over in Singapore, Vodafone's affiliate, Mobile One (M1) has signed on to be the local partner to bring the Novatel PocketSpot, the MiFi to market. Given the huge hold that SingTel has in the entire SE Asian mobile market the #3 operator in Singapore needs to differentiate and sell something more than what # 1 does. My guess is that SingTel will do a deal with Huawei as did Three in the UK and as Clearwire has done with Cradlepoint. Pocketspots provide a very useful way to connect for those on the go. Just this weekend we went to a non-WiFi breakfast spot versus the local Starbucks and Brueggers combination in Del Mar for our usual Saturday morning startup. Having the MiFi along (I used my Verizon edition) means more exploration while still maintaining that sense of connectedness one needs when when is always on and always in touch.
