About 1 1/2 years ago, Halo donated a generous amount of Spot’s Stew to the Pet Adoption League. The dogs had never eaten Spot’s Stew before and were excited over how appetizing the food smelled and tasted. They eagerly awaited their breakfast and dinner every day! The volunteers began to notice a [...]
Art Linkletter, who delighted early TV audiences with his sweetly micheivous humor when he interviewed children and regular folks, is dead at 97.
He was a beloved icon of his time, getting people to share a little too much information during his shows, but always with a gentle and kindly manner.
An article in The Wall Street [...]
I recently received a free FURminator pet brush from PetsBath.com, a company that sells dog bath tubs and accessories.
Every dog and cat owner needs one of these brushes! No other pet brush works as well as the FURminator. The fine-tooth comb pulls the dead hair trapped in the undercoat as you can see below. The [...]

Word’s just getting out that animal officers in Santa Cruz, Calif. captured a dog who evaded them for nearly two months. It took 80 tries and numerous highway closures before they were able to lure him to safety.
The dog, dubbed Highway Man because of his highway-closing escapades, had been living with transients when his people [...]

Jane in Lakewood, New York wrote me this simple note that was like a thunder clap for me – I can no longer reject dry cat food for each and every situation. Jane listens to CAT CHAT® and understands everything I have said about the harm of kitty crack.

Shock collars are valuable dog training tools that can help a dog or even save her life in certain situations.
I fostered a Pomeranian mix named Elli who was terrified of being alone in the car. Whenever I opened or closed a car door she would go into a complete panic attack and bark, scream and pant.
I [...]

A few weeks ago I put some adult human guests in the back of my car enroute to a fancy party. Everyone was in black. Until they got to the party. Then everyone was in black and yellow. Alas, I had forgotten about vacuuming the velour-like back seat, and when we arrived at our event, [...]
I had the great pleasure of meeting Jone Bouman, the head of communications for American Humane, at the April 30 animal rescue stamps dedication in Hollywood.
The first thing she told me was “my shelter dog ONLY eats Halo Spot’s Stew!” As you may know, American Humane is the organization that assures the humane treatment of [...]
It happened in the blink of an eye. One second, Lindsay Frame was walking his daughter’s 12-year-old basset hound next to a pond in back of his townhome, and the next second, a 7-foot-alligator “launched” out of the water and grabbed her. “I was just scared. I just started screaming and shouting,” he told WTSP. [...]

One of the best parts about owning a dog is being able to take him places without worrying how he’ll respond to other animals, people or objects.

Socializing my dog
It’s sometimes impossible to live with a dog that has “separation anxiety.” A loud or destructive dog creates stress for everyone in the house, costs extra money and ruins good relationships with neighbors.
Well-meaning dog lovers aren’t always aware of a dog’s anxiety issues before adopting or fostering, and this can lead to big problems, especially [...]
