  • St. Bernardus Prior 8

    Updated: 2010-08-26 14:06:32
St. Bernardus is a name that’s pretty comfortable in my household. I can’t count the number of times that I’ve had the St. Bernardus Tripel and Abt 12 in recent years. They just seem to be those beers that I am able to find on a regular basis. The brewery’s Prior 8, however, is one [...]

I love this style of brew because it gives you a more robust, full flavor without the heavier [...]

  • OPA: Organic Pale Ale

    Updated: 2010-08-15 19:25:00
: : Sunday , August 15, 2010 OPA : Organic Pale Ale I've been brewing for about 7 years , and over the past 4 or 5 have transferred about 95 of my brewing to using organic grains , extract and when possible hops . At this point , with the exception of wheat malt extract , my grain bills and extract usage are all organic . There are several reasons why I started brewing organically , one reason being inspired by the book Fermenting Revolution I believe in local organic agriculture , and feel that it connects me in a way to the origins of localized brewing . I wrote a post a couple years ago , my organic manifesto in a way , that gives more reasons for my organic brewing , you can check it out here if . interested The transition hasn't really been that difficult or in many ways that much

  • Calibrating your Home Brewing Equipment

    Updated: 2010-08-07 22:24:03
Professional brewers will tell you that consistency is the the key to great beer. Most competitive home brewers are religious in their measurements and processes to ensure consistently great beer. However, most homebrewers take their measurements at face value without bothering to calibrate them.
