Here’s how WB1FSB shaved the price and provided four band operation. This old QST article illustrate how Marian Anderson WB1FSB setup a four band 80 40 15 and 10 meter band, ground-mounted  vertical antenna. After having read the ARRL antenna book he decided to setup the antenna in the back-yard where restricted space let him desist from setting up dipoles or other type of wire antennas. Moreover he decided to use the metal fence that delimit the back-yard as an extended ground system. I was sitting in the shack while it was 25 degrees outside with wind chills making it feel like it was actually in the teens . nbsp Art was sitting in his backyard , using his KX1 while it was a balmy 70F . You have to love Florida in the winter time Art had a nice 559 signal into NJ using his QRP rig and a portable vertical antenna .

In the hospital by 5:30 AM and home around 2:30 PM . nbsp I was surprised to find out that I was getting a general anesthetic and not the local I had thought I was going to get . nbsp The operation started at 7:00 AM and I was awake but quite foggy at 9:15 AM . nbsp Thankfully there was no post-anesthesia nausea . nbsp I can tolerate pain but I HATE feeling nausea My doctor had informed me that my parathyroid gland was about four times normal size and that my parathyroid hormone level at the beginning of surgery was a very QRO level of 400.
