Not a heck of a lot out there this week , aside from Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too and Marmaduke the underperforming summer comedy featuring the voice of Owen Wilson However , a couple of smaller releases worth checking out are the Michael Caine revenge flick Harry Brown and the three U.K . serial killer made-for-TV movies that form the critically-acclaimed Red Riding Trilogy Also , out on Blu-ray this week we have the Rich Mahogany
ABOUT PODCAST REVIEWS TRAILERS FEATURES FORUM Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper to Star in Untitled Buddy Cop Film Posted by Sean on August 31st , 2010 Filed under : Action Comedy Source : Risky Business It sounds like buddy cop films could be making a comeback in Hollywood , thanks in part to both Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s The Other Guys and Kevin Smith’s Cop Out We’ve got news this week of a potentially R-rated action-comedy being shopped around Hollywood that has a Lethal Weapon flavour” to it , and it has two pretty big stars attached in Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper . Both are known for their comedic performances but have also starred in a handful of action-oriented tentpoles , but do they have what it takes to be the next Riggs and Murtaugh The movie will be based on a script
ABOUT PODCAST REVIEWS TRAILERS FEATURES FORUM Neil Marshall to Direct Extreme Cuisine Horror Movie Posted by Sean on August 30th , 2010 Filed under : Horror Source : Deadline New York Are you a fan of Kitchen Nightmares If so , you should be especially interested in Neil Marshall’s next horror flick Underground which sounds like it will definitely bring new meaning to the phrase . It is being described as a horror thriller set in the world of gourmet underground supper clubs . 8221 No , . seriously According to Mike Fleming at Deadline New York the movie revolves around a young chef who gets caught up in
: ABOUT PODCAST REVIEWS TRAILERS FEATURES FORUM Monday Morning Box Office Report : The Power of The Last Exorcism Compels You Posted by Sean on August 30th , 2010 Filed under : Box Office Source : IMDb It was a tight battle at the box office over the weekend between The Last Exorcism and Takers so tight , in fact , that the winner could probably still change once the full numbers come in . As it stands right now , The Last Exorcism just barely came out on top , although both movies are hovering around the 21 million mark and seem to have done better than expected . Since The Last Exorcism had a budget of just 1.8 million , though , I think it’s the real winner either way . The Expendables finally fell to 3, followed by Eat Pray Love and The Other Guys Piranha 3D meanwhile , dropped like a
: ABOUT PODCAST REVIEWS TRAILERS FEATURES FORUM Film Junk Poll : What is the Best Found Footage Horror Film Posted by Sean on August 30th , 2010 Filed under : Polls With The Last Exorcism doing quite well at the box office this weekend and getting some decent reviews as well , it’s clear that the found footage” documentary-style horror movie is still relevant and effective for a lot of people . There have now been quite a few entries into this sub-genre , and I thought it would be a good time to take stock of the ones that have been released to see which ones stand out above the rest . Does a handheld camera always work for horror , or can the shaky cam get annoying and or nauseating as well Do you prefer a serious or comedic approach I know there are definitely some more obscure titles

ABOUT PODCAST REVIEWS TRAILERS FEATURES FORUM Hatchet II to Get Biggest Unrated Theatrical Release in 25 Years Posted by Sean on August 27th , 2010 Filed under : Horror Industry News Trailers Although I have only seen one of Adam Green’s films so far Frozen which I liked quite a bit I get the feeling that he’s definitely becoming a new horror director to keep an eye on . Hatchet is the old school slasher flick that really put him on the map , and while it seems to have divided audiences , it was at least successful enough to get a sequel . Now Hatchet II is almost upon us , and this week Dark Sky Films announced that they are making a pretty ballsy move with the film’s theatrical release : they have put away the editing hatchet and decided to sidestep the MPAA entirely by going with an

Philip Seymour Hoffman directs and stars in this romantic comedy that compares and contrasts the relationships between two couples in New York City.
Jason Bateman deserves better than the mediocre would-be romantic comedy that is Lionsgate/Maple Pictures' The Switch. 2/5.
Definitely, Maybe is structured as a romantic mystery, but several details allow astute viewers to guess the ending, if they know how to read the signs.
