I guess it's official. A leading Pentecostal scholar thinks N. T. Wright is great. It seems that any scholar who even remotely attacks the Protestant Reformation is on the side of the Pentecostals since the doctrines of grace, particularly sola Scriptura, undermines their gnostic theology of super spirituality.
Bob DeWaay rightly points out in this enlightening article that any teaching that promises something extra to make someone an "elite" Christian is rightly called "pietism." In other words, most of this stuff originates in the higher life movement or the Wesleyan holiness movement. This is particularly true of the Word of Faith teaching which says that God is bound by His own rules and that man and satan are sovereign on earth.
