Many people with asthma will have first noticed the decision not to make prescriptions free. But the coalition Government's changes to disability benefits are also of concern.1. The current system is broken. No-one thinks it is fair for people with some conditions, like diabetes or thyroid conditions, to get free prescriptions, while those with other conditions, like asthma, don't. 2. It's great news to hear that the Scottish Government has finally set in stone its plans to abolish prescription charges from April 2011. In these tough financial times they have shown it is still possible to put patients first. However, this only highlights the fight still to be had in England.I have seen two interesting pieces of research in recent days which challenge conventional wisdom on asthma.
